Yawn Productions Presents

By: Laurie Gallardo

Lady Dan

If you’re on Instagram, the AMM recommends following Yawn Productions (@yawnproductions – sporting a yellow logo and the subheading “Stevie Ray Yawn”), spearheaded by the wonderful and talented Jake Ames. Somehow, the bassist for The Good Looks and guitarist/lead vocalist of The Stacks finds the time to book these awesome shows for South Austin treasure Sagebrush, but it’s clearly the dedication of a genuine music-lover.

These have been some pretty stellar line-ups, from Buffalo Hunt and Twain, to Batty Jr., Big Bill, Alex Dupreé, and Lord Friday the 13th, to name a few. The next show coming up features Lady Dan, Lady Chops and The Goddamn Jam, and Sugar Purr, all performing tonight, Wednesday March 22 at Sagebrush, 5500 S. Congress Ave. The music starts at 9 p.m.

Since moving to Austin in the early aughts, your Austin Music Minute host got a lesson on what is actual “church” day, which is not Sunday but Saturday. NITE SCHOOL at Cheer Up Charlie’s

If you know, you know. To simply call this one a “show” is insufficient. Perhaps…a vibe, honoring all moods, styles, fashion, artistic expression from the darkest recesses of the spectrum. Live music and guest DJs are essential to the alchemy of NITE SCHOOL, but there’s more that emerges from this 2nd Thursday electronic dance soirée […]

Madison Baker residency at Hotel Vegas

Initially, when Madison Baker began writing songs a few years ago, the Austin-based artist set out to create music reflecting their personal experiences from a queer, non-binary perspective. But they found they were also intrigued by the extraordinary ways music brings people closer together, as well as the myriad of emotions that, while connecting all […]

Magic Rockers of Texas Residency at HITW

If you got to see some of the Instagram video from last Wednesday’s blowout at the Magic Rockers of Texas residency kickoff at Hole In the Wall, you won’t need much convincing to go. Crocodile Tears and The Bad Lovers started things out with a bang, and now this week’s gang of hoodlums bring more […]

Jack White at The Moody Center

It’s a lot of music. As with many artists, songwriting didn’t stop for Jack White during lockdown. It’s not a faucet. You can’t shut it off. But as each song began to take form, White realized it would be too much for just one album. The flow felt interrupted when he tried to piece it […]

Chucky Blk at Far Out Lounge

Writer. Poet. Hip-hop artist. Spoken word performer. All of these things.
