The All-Star One With Brad Stuver, Brandon Vázquez, and Andy Loughnane
Austin will host its first major league all-star game this month. Goalkeeper Brad Stuver talks about representing his squad at Q2 Stadium. Team president Andy Loughnane talks about what will be available for fans to do during MLS All-Star week and his brief career as a hockey referee. The team had to absorb some heavy news this week with striker Brandon Vazquez now out for the season due to a knee injury. In anticipation of his second All-Star game, he sat down with hosts Jimmy Maas and Juan Garcia before his injury. They chatted about his journey to the team, including many crossings of the border to train from his home in Southern California.

Austin FC continued its revamp of its offense with the acquisition of Finnish winger Robert Taylor from Inter Miami in April. Taylor made some memorable moments in Miami, playing with Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. The 30-year-old spent nearly a decade climbing his way up from some of the lowest divisions of English soccer, through Scandinavian leagues, to trophies and give-and-gos with the GOAT. Austin FC is betting his career will continue to blossom at Q2 Stadium.

Austin FC supporters have turned Q2 stadium into one of the best environments in Major League Soccer. One way they show their support of the team on game day is through elaborate fan displays, called tifos. These giant banners are displayed for a couple of minutes right before kickoff, but each one takes hundreds of people and weeks to make, and is one of the best ways to get involved in supporting the team.

Jimmy Maas
Jimmy became the assistant news director after years of hosting and reporting on business, sports, and odd stuff around Austin.
He grew up in Austin where he studied at its finest institutions. He moved to New York where he worked for some of its biggest media conglomerates.
Since joining the KUT News team, he has won awards and received several years of “meets and sometimes exceeds expectations” in employee reviews.
Juan Garcia
Juan Garcia is a producer at KUT. He joined KUT in 2021 as an evening and weekend host. He has a bachelor’s degree in electronic media and mass communication from Texas State University, where he worked as news director and station manager at KTSW 89.9 in San Marcos.
