There’s always a good reason to go out and catch a show, and many-a-time a single show holds several reasons within itself. Tonight the good energy overload happens at Cheer Up Charlie’s on Red River. The Sour Notes celebrate the release of their new single “Gold,” self-proclaimed Mud-folk outfit Lord Buffalo awaken from hibernation, and the Naked Tungs and Royal Forest round out the bill leading up to the night’s headliner. Moving Panoramas return from the road for their last show of the year. All of the love goes down tonight at 8 at Cheer Up Charlie’s on Red River. Check out live videos from tonight’s line-up below!

A Fine Night For A Freakout

And now, for something completely obvious: Everything is absurd. Surely you’re aware of life’s great folly. But Big Bill indulges in the artistry of turning that absurdity into exhilarating and cathartic musical experiences like Public Freakout Compilation, their second full-length LP released via Spaceflight Records. Worry not about the future, and release the mundanity of […]

5th Wheel 4 Lyfe

Song of the Day host Jack Anderson‘s interview with KUTX August Artist of the Month, Deezie Brown, is an excellent deep dive into not only the tales behind the autobiographical 5th Wheel Fairytale, but also the timeline of Brown’s evolution as a music artist, from recording one of his first tracks with the legendary Shorty […]

Best Work of Art

Today’s AMM featured artist made their debut with the breathtaking “Isn’t It Enough,” an incredible voice ringing out from the mountaintop while simultaneously conveying an uncertainty of the future. “But what if this is all we’ve got? / We might not make it big, but we could have love. / And isn’t that enough?” And […]

Not Asking Too Much

It was the ultimate catharsis for Paige Renèe Berry, purging a lifetime of emotions from personal trauma into her songwriting. It was mostly to release and heal. But some of Berry’s writing coalesced into the debut album of Half Dream, Monster of Needing (2020), every word leading to a revelation of strength moving beyond mere […]

…The Next 20th Century

Perhaps there are a few noticeable stylistic differences in Father John Misty‘s fifth studio release, Chloë and The Next 20th Century, compared to previous FJM albums, but is it so removed from that magic spun by Josh Tillman? For example, “I Love You, Honeybear” (2015), is a swooning ballad with enough lush arrangements to make […]

Golden

It’s sumptuous the way these grooves rock. Hedonistic, even. The dazzling extra-terrestrial ensembles of ATX outfit Golden Dawn Arkestra may amp the vibe up several notches, but let there be no doubt about the electro-funky grooves of these Sun Ra disciples. Unleash “Phenomenal” into the skate rink.“Golden Limousine” is the sexiest backseat party on the […]
