Salomé Songbird (Co-produced by Amanda Abate): “Trip”

For the last few years, Spoon drummer Jim Eno has run Project Traction, an opportunity for female and non-binary musicians to sit behind the board in the producer’s chair. Past participants include S.L. Houser, Magna Carda’s Megz Kelli, and Kam Franklin. Last May, Eno expanded this project to Colorado, and the first of this new crop comes from string group Salomaé Songbird, known for their “scathing lullabies.” Co-produced by Colorado-based sound engineer Amanda Abate, “Trip” sounds like a cloudy day by a lake in the Rockies: haunting and bucolic, and slightly mysterious before blossoming into something almost cinematic.
