For music veterans They Might Be Giants, momentum is the secret sauce….or novel spice blend, attributing the “open-endedness” of their approach to the craft as the key to their continued popularity and intrigue after 44 years. Their latest album (and note: their 24th) The World Is to Dig is a largely upbeat- 18-track romp, bursting with weird, little gems and cheeky detours to keep your ear hairs perked. “Get Down” is a ska-infused misdirect: the aliens are coming, so you need to get down, but, hey if it’s the end of the world, you may as well at least get down.
They Might Be Giants perform this Friday and Saturday night at Emo’s.
