Born to the husband-wife duo Montana Rose, country singin’ and six-stringin’ has always been central to Tessy Lou Williams. Enthralled by the genuine country energy behind Brennen Leigh on Williams’ very first night in Austin, Tessy Lou soon made the move to the Live Music Capital where she and her backing band The Shotgun Stars have had a welcome home for the past decade.
And while COVID-19 has put a damper on her drink-slingin’ duties in Spicewood at Poodie’s Hilltop Roadhouse, Williams managed to largely write and record her debut solo full-length back in Nashville, culminating in her self-titled ten-track. On the whole Tessy Lou Williams is an earnest, eponymous entry into the mythos of modern Western culture and in particular pays tribute to her father (and Shotgun Stars bassist) Kenny Williams with a cover of Montana Rose’s 1992 composition, “Someone Lonely”!
