As quarantine continues, everyone’s been handling isolation and solitude as best they can. But outside the COVID-19 context, Berkeley songwriter Frank Ene has tackled seclusion with a bout of creativity. Ene largely withdrew after an era of “Pure Bliss” (the name of Ene’s now-disbanded noise-pop group) to focus on his own material, multi-instrumental tracks that evoke classic French pop just as much as ’90s goth rock.
Equal parts morose, sensual, and meditative, Frank Ene’s debut six-song No Longer is a powerful first entry into the singer’s solo discography, and with the wait officially over, gp ahead and kick off New Music Friday with No Longer‘s album opener and title track!
