This was it, the moment to let one’s guard down and go for something…bigger. Wolf Alice vocalist/guitarist Ellie Rowsell took that leap with her band on their third album, Blue Weekend, and came through with a phenomenal LP on every level. From its lyrical depth and swagger, to the time spent polishing and perfecting every layer thanks in part to having a badass producer like Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine) at the helm – and spending COVID lockdown in a residential recording studio. It’s their most cohesive and probably their best release to date.
Wolf Alice’s North American tour lands them in Austin for a show tonight, Thursday April 14, at Emo’s on E. Riverside Dr. Doors open at 7 p.m.
