The AMM’s enthusiasm runneth over. Austin four-piece Ladyfang brings a bunch of everything to their new self-titled LP with spectacular cosmic flair; pulsing synth, dance pop, glittery glam and rock all have a place at the table. Their second album was recorded at The Bubble Studios, with producers Chris “Frenchie” Smith and Brett Marcom guiding the band’s multi-layered energy into a cohesive reflection of their diverse tastes. Dance-tastic album opener “Hawt Dog” (featured on today’s AMM) just scratches the surface of Ladyfang’s repertoire, as it glides into cooler tones (“Hotel”), a breezy brush of melodic Latin groove (“Algún Día”), a pop-rock ride (“Keeping Score”), and on down to a moody beauty with a blazing intro (“Volcano”).
Time for a party. Ladyfang celebrates the LP’s release with a show tonight, Friday June 2, at The ABGB, 1305 W. Oltorf. Band of love bandits PRIXMO opens the show, starting at 9 p.m.
