Ray Prim at Geraldine’s

Today’s Austin Music Minute was inspired by Ray Prim‘s soulful “Only Thing To Do.” Prim recently shared some of the lyrics on Instagram – and they pierce straight through the heart as the song leans into the struggle of these particularly trying times. “Yesterday is blurry / Tomorrow feels the same / The future is uncertain / Lord something’s gotta change…” Perhaps the sentiments are timeless, but they’re especially prescient as 2022 unfolds, and, as Prim sings, “the only thing to do is hold on.”

The Austin-based songwriter is kicking off a musical residency at Geraldine’s, and joining Prim and his band this week are violinists Christina Steele and Kimberly Zielnicki, adding even more incredible layers to the depth of Prim’s thought-provoking work. The first show is tomorrow night, Wednesday Feb. 2, with the music starting at 8 p.m.
