NITE SCHOOL at Cheer Up Charlie’s

If you know, you know. To simply call this one a “show” is insufficient. Perhaps…a vibe, honoring all moods, styles, fashion, artistic expression from the darkest recesses of the spectrum. Live music and guest DJs are essential to the alchemy of NITE SCHOOL, but there’s more that emerges from this 2nd Thursday electronic dance soirée at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Thanks to the eclectic tastes of curator, host and DJ Scorpio (Sky Hutchens), each hand-picked selection for the monthly party perfectly fits the mood. Dark wave, cold wave, neu wave, no wave, grave wave…not enough room here to list each and every genre or nuance, but you’ll know the moment you enter and feel your black heart pierced.

Don’t miss the next NITE SCHOOL event tonight, Thursday June 9, featuring performances by Urban Heat (featured on today’s AMM), Rona Rougeheart‘s sin-sational SINE and Brooklyn-based dark synth warriors Shanghai Beach. The music starts at 8:30 p.m.

And now the ATX-by-way-of Philly outfit is ramping things up with two new additions to the line-up, guitarists Steve Pike and Kyle Harris. No doubt extra shreds will add even more discordant dimensions […]

The AMM’s back at it with a few more ACL Fest selections, and a couple of must-see non-festival related shows to sink your fangs into. Here’s a list. Check it twice: Gonna say this over and over: Go support the bands, even if you’re abstaining from those of the wrist variety.

It’s round two of the Austin Music Minute‘s selections for ACL Fest 2023, along with AMM show picks off the beaten path for those not festivally-inclined. No, “festivally” is not an actual word, but you get it: And remember: Go support the bands, even if you’re abstaining from those of the wrist variety.
