Stay hydrated and get some rest. SXSW 2022 is underway, and the overwhelming selection of SXSW live and online events this year can be a daunting thing. But, as is typically the case this time of year, the AMM will offer a few recommendations that include official showcases and shows off the beaten path.
For today/tonight, Monday March 14:
- Light the House, presented by Lightstream, continues this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Scholz Garten, with Star Parks, Slomo Drags, KVN, Magic Rockers of Texas, comedian Avery Moore and special guests.
- Belfast-based pop duo Beauty Sleep has a performance at The Green Jay, 711 Red River.
- Songwriter (and backing vocalist for Eryka Badu) Durand Bernarr is performing at a showcase at Cheer Up Charlie’s.
Durand Bernarr - Canadian artists are in the spotlight at Swan Dive, 615 Red River, including rapper Naya Ali, songwriter Mauvey, synth-pop duo Paupiére, and Toronto punk outfit Bad Waitress.
- The Spring Break Boogie 11 Kickoff at Hotel Vegas continues through the night with Surfbort, A Giant Dog, Sailor Poon, Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band, Annabelle Chairlegs, Deezie Brown, Tele Novella and many more.
- Dude. Post-punk pioneers Gang of Four happens to be playing tonight at the Mohawk. (DAMN.)
And giving you a head start for a show starting at 2 p.m. tomorrow, March 15: Stoned Roses Fest at The Far Out Lounge and Stage, 8504 S. Congress Ave., featuring Daiistar, Mattiel, Blvck Hippie, Ezra Furman and more.
