Release the bats, fiends. This Halloween weekend is a music-filled one – times ten – with Levitation. The Austin-based music fest, originally launched by The Black Angels as Austin Psych Fest in 2008, has its roots based in all things psych, but Levitation plays host to artists across many genres.
As you may know, your AMM host is stoked about several Levitation shows going down on opening night, Thursday Oct. 27: Thee Sacred Souls at Mohawk (and holy hell, Adrian Quesada is DJ’ing?? WHAT?!); two OG bands in the hearts of many aficionados, Os Mutantes and W.I.T.C.H. at Empire Control Room; Superorganism at the Scoot Inn; The Vacant Lots at The 13th Floor on Red River; and one that’s extra special, Jesus and Mary Chain at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater. And it’s one sick line-up with Protomartyr, Automatic, and The Paranoyds (“Single Origin Experience” from their new album Talk Talk Talk is featured on today’s AMM).
The Levitation website has the entire festival line-up and ticket info. Please note: Quite a few shows have sold out, but check with individual venues for additional information.
