It’s spectral. There’s an aura of otherworldliness in each tale that unfolds within Merlynn Belle, the first album that Tele Novella recorded on Kill Rock Stars, and the first that songwriter/vocalist Natalie Ribbons and multi-instrumentalist Jason Chronis recorded as a duo. The album feels like an invocation of these mysterious, intriguing characters as it exquisitely winds its way through folk pop, psych, Americana…unusual melodies from distant dreams.
One not to miss. See Tele Novella tomorrow night, Saturday September 4, at Hotel Vegas, 1502 E. 6th. They share a bill with Star Parks and duo Jane Leo (featuring Jane Ellen Bryant and Daniel James of Leopold and His Fiction). The show starts after 10 p.m., but get there early for a set by LABRYS, featuring Penny Pitchlynn from Broncho, and a solo set by Lindsey Mackin (Annabelle Chairlegs), starting at 7:30 p.m.
And please remember to bring your mask.
