Austin Music Minute fave Van Mary has more new awesomeness to soak in. Following the recent release of the powerful “New Mexico,” paired with its accompanying hazy dreamlike video, and an October feature as the KUTX Song of the Day, songwriter/vocalist Emily Whetstone‘s band reveals another fantastic track waiting in the queue, badass lo-fi gem “Ennui,” also recorded with producer Matt Parmenter at Ice Cream Factory Studio. Whetstone dives into the frustrating (mental) tug-of-war between the pining and self-loathing that awakens the worst kind of restlessness. “Still, I kinda wanna call you, but I know I’d regret it later/Yeah, I miss you ’cause I’m a pathetic loser…”

Don’t miss out on Van Mary’s single release show tonight at Hotel Vegas, 1502 E. 6th St. Another cool line-up with Alexalone, Vonne and Lizzie Buckley opening the night. Doors at 9 p.m. Mad love. Very recommended.
