Bright and early this morning, the ever-fantastic Pelvis Wrestley made a TV debut of sorts on KEYE’s We Are Austin’s Music Monday feature. Host Trevor Scott and Pelvis Wrestley songwriter/vocalist Benjamin Violet discussed the defining elements of country music as the “ultimate American art form,” which today is presented in many non-traditional ways while remaining true to the spirit of the music itself.
“…It feels very important to remain very visible and very audible as an American, and as a queer artist,” Violet explained, “and playing as a country artist feels like the best vehicle to do that right now.”
Tomorrow marks the (official) release of Pelvis Wrestley’s first single, “Susanna” (featured on today’s AMM), and that includes a single release show tomorrow night at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 901 Red River. The line-up features sets by Fanclub and Lord Friday the 13th, all on the inside stage. Seriously, this is an entire night of Austin Music Minute favorites. Doors at 9 p.m. This one comes very recommended.
