Daniel Fears at Far Out Lounge

By: Laurie Gallardo

Damn. It’s as if Far Out Lounge and Stage asked the Austin Music Minute to put this show together. Inflated ego aside, this is your recommended line-up for tonight, Friday March 25. Warning: Infectious grooves may lead to dancing:

  • The impressive photos and behind-the-scenes clips on Daniel FearsInstagram are hinting at more awesomeness on the way from the Austin-based songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Keep Canopy in your soundtrack, keep your ears and eyes peeled, and catch him at Far Out Lounge this evening.
  • Never mind the apocalyptic collapse of the burning landscape surrounding you, your love song is here! Dark-electronic mayhem, with punk pumping through its veins, Urban Heat arrives to ignite the stage and release the demons.
  • Your AMM’s got “I Like It” on repeat. For real. And set aside your standard definitions of R&B or soul. Torre Blake is here to push beyond all that. Incredible voice, extraordinary presence.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the music starts at 8 p.m. (No worries, you have plenty time to catch this one after Rock the Park.)

Truth be told, your nerdy AMM host is drooling like a goblin over Hyperreal Film Club‘s upcoming scary October screenings at Hotel Vegas. This Austin-based film lovers’ club, formed in 2016, does badass pop-up screenings of independent films of every genre at various spots around town, and provides a platform for guest columnists to write […]

Bootcut

The humor is just as beautiful as the damn album, and the album is gorgeous. It starts as soon as you drop the needle on “Girls Bugging Me” on BOOTCUT. You clearly hear Afie Jurvanen, better known as Nova Scotia-based artist Bahamas, attempting to record something, but his young daughters are not having it. “…Can […]
