Black Opry Revue at 3Ten

By: Laurie Gallardo

This is a true story about music, who makes it, what it’s always been, and where it’s headed. Only now, the visibility is growing and changing. Black Opry keeps the conversation moving forward.

The Nashville-based collective, founded by writer Holly G, was created for Black music artists, and Black fans, of country, folk, blues and Americana. It’s a supportive space focused on evolving the genres to make them – and the industry that sells and promotes them – more inclusive. The Black Opry Revue takes it a step further with songwriters’ rounds, festival performances and showcases, highlighting the often overlooked versatility of each of these genres.

The Revue is in Austin to present a showcase tonight, Saturday March 26, at 3Ten at ACL Live, with performances by Roberta Lea, Nicky Diamonds, Aaron Vance, Houston’s very own Kam Franklin (The Suffers), and Nikki Morgan. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.
