Once upon a time, on Late Night with David Letterman, Paul Schaffer was heard to exclaim, “Darlene Love is rock ‘n’ roll!”
Truth. Though that has been made quite apparent throughout the span of Love’s incredible musical career. You hear one tiny bit, maybe even just the opening part, of a Phil Spector holiday classic like “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” and you know that voice.
This Oscar-winning, Grammy-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Broadway star has an awesome tradition of presenting Christmas specials each year. This year’s show will be markedly different, but you can bet it will be just as spectacular. It’s Darlene Love: Love For the Holidays, streaming from Sony Hall in New York City. The virtual show starts at 7 p.m. (Central) tonight, Saturday December 5. Your virtual ticket gets you a link to the show, and a portion of proceeds supports the Cactus Café. You can find ticket info at the Cactus Café website.
