Danny Golden: “Hungry Ghost”

By: Taylor Wallace

Austin’s Danny Golden may be having a new album coming out this summer, but we have the privilege of giving you a sneak peek of what’s to come.Hungry Ghost is an indie Americana song delivering a dopamine shot to the brain, creating feelings of warmth, freedom, and joy, while simultaneously exploring deeper, more challenging themes. It captures the scarcity loop we all experience on a societal scale; the cycle of fleeting satisfaction followed by the pressure of what comes next. Through his journey of addiction recovery, Danny doesn’t offer easy answers to these pressures but instead finds a way to embrace acceptance, perseverance, and resilience, both in his music and in life. He illustrates these themes through the song’s darkly humorous music video about befriending a ghost after a relentless chase.

“Hungry Ghost” is out now. Danny Golden plays a show tonight at the 04 Center.
