El Dusty: “La Cumbia” feat. Boogat

By: Jack Anderson

Latin Grammy-nominated producer and turntablist El Dusty just met a bold milestone in his already burgeoning career. Known in the live music realm for his mainstream festival appearances and garnering acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone and Billboard, El Dusty’s natural sense of sampling, chopping and just plain moving the crowd is undeniable.

Last Friday El Dusty released the full-length Cumbia City, fourteen fresh collaborative songs of bass bumpin’ and booty shakin’, all ripe for replayin’. El Dusty celebrates Cumbia City with a release party this Friday at the North Door along with Peligrosa. but hop in right now with a tune featuring Montreal-born Latin musician Boogat – “La Cumbia”.

Jack Anderson (Host, Monday-Wednesday 8-11pm, Saturday 6-10am)

Coy O Té: “Never Enough”

As much as I miss seeing Walker Lukens & The Side Arms dominate marquees and show bills across town year-round, it’s been really neat watching Walker evolve from a frontman of many hats to a straight-up behind-the-scenes producer. In doing so, Walker’s been able to lend his idiosyncratic sense of sonics and production techniques to […]

But with the exception of a brief 2019 reunion, What Made Milwaukee Famous has remained largely dormant since the release of You Can’t Fall Off […]

Pendulum Hearts: “Waiting”

Back in summer 2021, Dripping Springs trio Midland centered their sophomore EP The Last Resort with a pretty straightforward declaration: “It Takes Two to Two Step“. Now that may sound pretty redundant in the world of group choreography, but it’s also true in terms of a performers’ ability to inspire spontaneous dance. Without the help […]

Madison Baker: “U-Shaped Dent”

As we’ve come to expect in the Live Music Capital of the World, this past weekend once again treated us to a bevy of release shows. But among the many, one you might’ve missed came on behalf of Madison Baker, who, alongside our September 2019 Artist of the Month Flora & Fawna, Glasshealer, and Clover […]

The Selfless Lovers: “So Far Gone”

When the phrase “piano man” comes up, we think of one song and one song only. Which is kind of a bummer, because there are some truly incredible performers who fit the bill here in Austin that frankly put Billy Joel to shame. Among the mightiest on the ivories like Red Young, Dr. Joe, and […]
