Austin-based indie dance, post-punk duo Almost Heaven is having a strong start to 2026. After a C3-produced Free Week performance at Stubb’s, the pair recently released “oscillation,” ahead of their EP release on January 30.
“Oscillation” will remind listeners of the 2010s era of indie electronica, drawing inspiration from Crystal Castles and Daft Punk alike, and it’s impossible not tap your toes to the upbeat drum patterns. But with its plush synth instrumentation, the song also has a dreamier side. The duo, comprised of West Texan Stefan Barraza & Austin-native drummer Jaelyn Valero, revealed that the track was written during a late night of traveling, and while listening, one can almost imagine a wide, dark sky and a never-ending road whirring under your wheels.
Raucous cheers and whistling at the beginning and end of the track, along with percussive vocals throughout, harken to the dance floor, but this upbeat track does just as well on a playlist for a late-night drive to a destination hundreds of miles away.
