A new state law bans certain discussions and activities related to race, gender and sexual orientation. Five people are suspected to have overdosed on narcotics early this morning at a downtown Austin bar. Texas fell from first to seventh in the AP Top 25 College Football Poll. After a couple days with highs below normal, the National Weather Service forecast shows temperatures going back above normal for most of this week.

Travis County Commissioners are making final adjustments to a $2.2 billion budget that would add $200 to the average homeowner’s property tax bill. A lawsuit over ballot language the City of Austin approved for its November tax rate election is headed to the Texas Supreme Court. Texas football fans are gearing up for this weekend’s home opener against San José State.

Waterloo Records will celebrate the grand opening of its new location tomorrow. Pop star Doja Cat announced on Instagram that she’s dropping out as one of the headliners of the Austin City Limits music festival.
