Central Texas top stories for March 8, 2024. The Austin Independent School District is preparing to make major budget cuts to remain financially stable. A jury in Travis County has acquitted two former Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies of manslaughter charges. Today is your last day to order free at-home COVID-19 tests through the U.S. Postal Service. Hays CISD is one of several school districts in Central Texas now planning to close schools for the total solar eclipse on April 8th. Travis County has issued a disaster declaration ahead of the total solar eclipse on April 8th. CapMetro Rail service will be free tomorrow for the second Austin FC home game this season. The Annual Art and Parks Tour is tomorrow.
