Houston-born singer/songwriter/self-taught multi-instrumentalist Luisa Lopez reveres the Southern roots of her mother’s side of the family, but writes the kind of music meant to transcend any borders, geographically or otherwise. Don’t fence it in. The influences run the spectrum, and Lopez delights in keeping the listener on their toes.
Lopez grew up listening to a mix of pop, soul, country gold and more, all shaping the distinctive style of her eight-song release, 45., a reference to both her age and the U. S.’s recent administration, though the album is not merely social commentary. Lopez wants the listener feeling inspired and “curious about what’s next.”
Lopez is the next featured artist on Bonnie Whitmore’s weekly Virtual Gallery series. Catch the show at 8:30 p.m. (Central) on Thursday, April 22. Ticket information is available via Bonnie Whitmore’s website.
