It had to be during the hottest time in New Orleans, a sweltering summer, but Buck Meek had his reasons.
Producer Andrew Sarlo oversaw the conditions under which the band recorded Meek’s second LP, within an old Victorian home by the Mississippi River. The band recorded live to an 8-track tape machine, sans headphones. Just the mics. No one could hear anything until the end of the day. As maddening as this might be for some, the commitment to the spontaneous artistry, in the midst of so many limitations, gives Two Saviors its intuitive magic.
Catch Buck Meek at his show tonight, Monday Nov. 22, at 3Ten at ACL Live. Los Angeles experimental folk artists Kidi Band start out the show. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
