The original line-up of Austin psych-garage rockers The Living Pins got their start in 1996, making the rounds at ATX-iconic places like the long-gone Liberty Lunch and Electric Lounge, as well as Hole In the Wall. These days, founding members Carrie Clark and Pam Peltz keep the music going with drummer Rich Malley and bassist Claire Hamilton on board, serving up trippy riff-riddled awesomeness on their EP Freaky Little Monster Children. Say what you will about the psych vibe, but the band’s self-described madness describes it best: Primordial ‘1990s Austin meets 2000s oversaturated festival hangover, meets 2020s lockdown mind melt champaign fountain. All part of a balanced breakfast.
Catch The Living Pins tonight, Friday April 22, at The ABGB on W. Oltorf, opening for ATX dream psych-pop outfit Semihelix at 9 p.m. Massive double-header. This rules.
