Reunion

By: Laurie Gallardo

Project ATX6, the local nonprofit that brings Austin music to different parts of the world, was ready to charge ahead with this year’s six selected musicians for one more trip, The Great Escape in Brighton, when the pandemic hit. And it hit hard. Everything came to a screeching halt. All travel for the crew was cancelled, as well as what would have been this year’s Project ATX6 grand finale performance here in Austin.

However, the grand finale took on a new form, a livestream reunion concert and watch party featuring performances by this year’s artists: Kathryn Legendre, Alesia Lani, Mike St. Clair (Pocket Sounds), Evan Charles (Altamesa), Leslie Sisson (Moving Panoramas), and Jonathan Horstmann (Urban Heat). Each set was filmed live at Mosaic Sound Collective in East Austin, and the livestream also includes a preview of the project documentary, and interviews with the musicians and Project ATX6 founder Chris Brecht – hosted by none other than yours truly, your Austin Music Minute maven.

The Project ATX Reunion Concert livestream begins at 7:30 p.m. (Central) tonight, Monday Nov. 2, on Facebook Live.

And now, in the recent words of Jonny Jukebox, “Are you ready for the next level?” Mobley’s journey takes its next cue from a collection of demos titled Worktape, and that’s exactly […]

Black Rainbows

We’re all guilty of building up expectations. So, you might spin Corinne Bailey Rae‘s latest blazer Black Rainbows and find it something of a departure for Rae, in terms of a style that incorporates R&B, jazz and soul. This one gets loud, bold, experimental in many parts, powered by guitar and unapologetic vitality, all inspired […]
