Today’s AMM featured track feels so airy, smooth and bass ‘n’ synth disco-danceable that it almost leaves one flabbergasted to hear – oh so sweetly – that one wasn’t invited to the party.
Inspired by a less than desirable neighbor interaction, “Light Me Up High” is just a sampling of the latest sparkling orchestral pop arrangements by Austin-based artist Dorio (Chad Doriocourt‘s songwriting project with collaborator Rachel Rascoe). The song (and new music video), out Thursday, is on Dorio’s forthcoming LP, Strawberry Dream, set for release April 29 via Earth Libraries and Citrus City Records. And, as part of KUTX’s Love Austin Music Month celebration, the AMM is spotlighting a release show – but make it a double – this week at Chess Club.
Dorio’s single and video release is perfectly tied in with new music by Austin-based dream folk artist Tearjerk (singer, songwriter, guitarist Vanessa Jollay) and the single “Show You,” an awesome folk pop-rocker of a pained soul feeling defeated by the struggle to reveal whatever’s inside. Catch this double release show Thursday night, Jan. 19, at Chess Club on Red River. It’s a bill made even more outstanding with a set by San Gabriel. Doors at 9 p.m.
