You don’t know until you’ve experienced it live. That should very well be one of the mantras of Love Austin Music Month, the citywide celebration of Austin’s music and the incredible artists who create it. And the live performances in our city alone are tremendous. You can post on Instagram all you like, but being there is what creates the legendary stories that fans feast upon for years to come.

Case. In. Point. —> Ever seen A Giant Dog play? It’s a visceral power that can be felt even if you’re watching from the back of the venue. It’s a headrush and a heart race. It’s a euphoric panic attack. It’s being struck by lightning twice – while gunning for a third. This weekend, you’ll be treated to two glorious nights of A Giant Dog madness: Tonight, Friday Jan. 20 and tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 21, at Chess Club, the cozy spot at 617 Red River that may barely contain all of this energy, but it’ll hurt so good.

Tonight’s soirée includes sets by Blue Jean Queen and Geranium Drive. Tomorrow, Nevil, TV’s Daniel and HOT /// CAKES are on the bill. Doors at 8:30 p.m. both nights. It’s like the AMM booked these shows. Brace yourself.
