Lacerate

By: Laurie Gallardo

Futon Blonde recorded today’s AMM featured track “Lacerate” at vocalist Janson Sommers‘ home, after pulling together a demo written around a singular drum break. Their latest release on London-based label The Animal Farm, is about the art of the understated counterattack. The answer to dealing with confrontation: “…Duck and smile” after the initial strike, but it’s that smile that seems to deal the real punch. Though it seems more like a creeping grimace the Joker might use, rather than a nonviolent response.

Futon Blonde has their next show tomorrow night, Tuesday October 12, at Meanwhile Brewing Company, 3901 Promontory Point Dr., sharing the bill with Austin analog rock-pop outfit Gumma. The music starts at 7 p.m. And please remember to bring your mask.
