It’s been 11 years since Hotel Vegas and The Volstead started hosting shows on E. 6th in what was, at the time, the polar opposite vibe of Dirty Sixth. The small East Austin venues soon earned their rep for being the go-to spots for cool shows/DJ sets by local and touring artists, from the coziest indoor performances to unbelievably huge crowds clamoring at the patio stage.
Vegas and Volstead mark their 11-year anniversary with – what else? – a mondo party tonight, Thursday March 10, with 11 bands, 11 DJ’s, 11 comedians (there’s a theme here…), a fabulous drag show, loads of vendors and more. Doors open at 4 p.m., and live music continues throughout the night with A Giant Dog, Ringo Deathstarr, Annabelle Chairlegs, Sailor Poon, The Stacks, Sheverb, Flyer Club (with all the flyers), Borzoi, Pleasure Venom, Lord Friday the 13th, and Billy Glitter.
