This is, hands down, the one-two-three knockout this weekend. Three KUTX-featured artists are taking over Germania Insurance Amphitheater tomorrow, Saturday Sept. 24:
- If you haven’t guessed by now, Khruangbin is a trio of magical beings from outer space. In their earthly forms, bassist Laura Lee, guitarist Mark Speer and drummer Donald Johnson are a Houston band kicking genre to the curb, flowing in any areas between funk, psych, surf rock, and a broad palate of Latin influences with the heaviest of bass. Like, mad bass. This is love.
- Just hand over the street cred to Thundercat. After delivering all the thrash with Suicidal Tendencies, songwriter/bassist/singer Stephen Lee Bruner went on to produce four solo albums and worked with producer Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar. All of this, and a two-time Grammy winner. Thundercat will, indeed, show you the way.
- Euphoric. Invigorating. And defiant in the onslaught of the Black Dog – of which there are more than one. Genesis Owusu creates art from the darkest recesses of the heart and mind, channeling it into a unique, cathartic and genre-transcending exhilaration. Recharge with this Studio 1A performance. You’re welcome.
Doors for the show open at 6:30 p.m. Don’t miss a single set.
