Empower Hour

By: Laurie Gallardo

A recent article by Austin360 writer Deborah Sengupta Stith captured the essence perfectly. Keep your ears open. Tiarra Girls keep building momentum. It’s a force to be reckoned with. The three-time Austin Music Award-winning power trio, featuring siblings Tiffany, Tory and Sophia Baltierra, are badass songwriters and musicians who pour that very same passion into community activism. Whether it’s social justice or voter education, las hermanas Baltierra are on the frontline.

The pandemic may have altered everyone’s performance schedule, but like their fellow ATX artists, Tiarra Girls are adjusting to that live stream life. See their live stream show at 7 p.m. (Central) tomorrow, Saturday, July 18, presented by Studios at Fischer on Facebook and YouTube channel, and on Tiarra Girls’ Facebook as well.

Crew Vs. Crew

In any exploration of the origins of bboy subculture and its crucial role in the development of hip-hop, one of the best rabbit holes to dive into is the work of Bronx street photographer Ricky Flores. The stark black and white imagery from these formative years carries a unique fluidity and exuberance, but Flores was […]
