The musical roots run deep for Austin native Sheila, who learned to play music during her childhood visits to family in Nicaragua. Now the 24-year-old self-taught guitarist and songwriter draws inspiration from the likes of Rosalia, Kali Uchis and one of her earliest influences, Selena, on her outstanding debut LP Chilita. She’s brings the R&B, dream pop, soul, funk – and even a ’90s vibe coursing through the mix of badass beats.

Sheila next performance is coming up tomorrow night, Thursday August 19, at The Far Out Lounge and Stage, 8504 S. Congress Ave. The line-up includes Midnight Navy and Grace Sorensen. Doors open at 7 p.m. – and please don’t forget to bring your mask.
