Summary

Austin-based music artist and fabulous femcee Cha’Keeta B, founder of the Kinky Curly Coily Festival, says the annual event got its start in 2017 as a celebration of natural hair for people of color. The celebration now includes live music performances, in addition to healthy hair education, local Black-owned businesses for shopping, on-site hair styling and more.

Kinky Curly Coily Fest 3 kicks off at noon tomorrow, Sunday June 27, at Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th St. With Crystal the Unsigned serving as emcee, the line-up includes Nubia Emmon, Lady Shacklin, Tree G, CP Loony, CJ Verde, and Ivy Roots (“Truth About Each Other” is featured on today’s AMM). DJ Klassic spins throughout the day. Ticket information is available via Empire Control Room’s website.
