Paige Plaisance is carving out her own lane with a sound she coins “Swampytonkin’.” Raised on a farm near the muddy banks of the Mississippi River, the Austin-based singer-songwriter and pianist is back with her highly anticipated second full-length album, Swampwater.
Recorded at Austin’s famed Finishing School and produced by Jonathan Tyler, Swampwater further establishes Plaisance as a masterful, unflinching songwriter. The album is a raw collection of songs born from personal experiences—navigating love, loss, heartbreak, and grief, before ultimately heading to the honky-tonk to sing the blues away.
Musically, Swampwater forges a bold new era while highlighting her commanding vocals and signature piano playing. Plaisance dives deep into a soulful, blues-drenched territory—introducing grit, horns, and slide guitar—while staying fiercely true to the classic Texas country foundation of pedal steel and fiddle. Backed by her band, The Yeah You Right Boys, the record is a powerful evolution, perfectly capsulized in the new single “Waiting.”
Swampwater is out September 4th with an album release show September 5th at Antone’s with Monica Valli.
