Central Texas top stories for September 10, 2025. Three people were shot this morning, including an Austin police officer near Zilker Park. Today at 5 pm is the deadline to apply for financial assistance if you were affected by July’s flooding in Travis or Williamson County. Austin ISD is hosting a virtual meeting tonight on its plan to close schools and redraw school district boundaries. Austin’s Live Music Fund is opening back up. Tomorrow is an Ozone Action Day.

Central Texas top stories for September 10, 2025. APD is asking people to avoid the area around Zilker Park after an officer was injured during shooting. The Austin Independent School District is less than a month away from announcing a plan to save money and improve low-performing schools. The Save Austin Now political action committee is launching a campaign opposing the City of Austin’s proposed property tax increase. Austin is preparing to offer another round of funding to support live musicians and venues. Today is an Ozone Action Day.

Central Texas top stories for February 4, 2025. Austin may be making some changes to its Live Music Fund. Texas Governor Greg Abbott wants the state legislature to secure the future of the Texas water supply. Rent prices in the Austin area fell again last month. Austin Community College will begin offering classes in Lockhart this month. There’s been a sudden jump in gasoline prices in the Austin area.

Central Texas top stories for December 11, 2024. The ballots are in from Early Voting in the runoff election for last month’s undecided races. The City of Austin is reworking the Live Music Fund. Bruce Elfant is retiring from his post as Travis County’s Voter Registrar and Tax Assessor-Collector. Austin’s airport is operating with about half as many air traffic controllers as it should. Texas State University’s class of 2020 will finally have an in-person commencement. A bankruptcy judge rejected The Onion’s auction bid to buy Infowars.
