It’s a big deal for Eastside hang The 13th Floor to make their big move because it definitely means a bigger space. The previous extra-cozy spot on E. 12th sometimes felt it was barely the width of a shoebox, but the gang hosted many a badass party, performance and DJ night there. It was a tight fit for any band that managed to play a set in those confines, but naturally it added to the excitement – including maybe impromptu use of the bar as a stage? Yep. It looks cool – and it may have also been out of necessity.
You can find the new 13th Floor at the former Green Jay/Beerland location, 711 Red River. And the major expansion in square footage means there’s more room for live music. Catch a couple of AMM faves there tonight, Thursday, September 8: Songwriter Wil Cope starts out the night at 9 p.m., followed by cosmic American rockers Altamesa at 10 p.m.
