Limitations brought about by the pandemic led to a lot of…reimagining. How the hell would music artists get their creations into the world without being able to tour? Socially-distanced shows not always being an option, the vigorous reinvention time gave way to the livestream.
Local nonprofit Black Fret also did some serious reorganizing of their live music events into livestream concerts – including their annual Black Fret Ball. Nothing was going to stop this year’s ball, and “pandemic be damned,” in the words of Black Fret cofounder Matt Ott.
With careful planning, preparation, and social distance protocol in order for recording performances, the Black Fret Ball is ready to go, featuring all twenty Black Fret artist nominees for this year. That includes Bayonne, Cilantro Boombox, Moving Panoramas, Alesia Lani, Altamesa, Croy and The Boys, Think No Think, Henry Invisible (featured on today’s AMM), Sir Woman, Darkbird, Carrie Rodriguez, DOSSEY, The Belle Sounds, Ali Holder, Sam Houston And Blk Odyssy, Nané and more.
