ACL Fest Wrap-Up

By: Laurie Gallardo

J Soulja performs at noon today at ACL Fest.

All right – you’re soaking up ACL Fest‘s second weekend at Zilker Park. The AMM recommends you get an early start so you don’t miss must-see performances by Austin artists Lesly Reynaga, J Soulja and Jake Lloyd, hitting their respective stages at noon; KUTX October Artist of the Month Como Las Movies, and Brooklyn-based psych-rock/pop quintet Habibi at 12:45 p.m.; Good Looks at 1 p.m.; and LA pop duo Neil Frances, Columbian-born artist Lido Pimienta, and Boston funk outfit Ripe at 1:30 p.m.

New York artist Haley Dahl’s band Sloppy Jane is on at 3:15 p.m., and LA pop-rockers Wallows plays at 4 p.m. The evening features Lil Nas X, Death Cab For Cutie and The War On Drugs. And tonight’s ACL Nights pick is Japanese Breakfast at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater.

Wrapping up the fest tomorrow is basically family time for the AMM because of a bunch of ATX artists: Flora and Fawna, Pleasure Venom, Me ND Adam, Buffalo Nichols, Urban Heat, and Spoon. More Sunday picks include Chicago rock trio Dehd, LA band The Marias (featured on today’s AMM) producer/songwriter Robert Glasper, Paramore (and their exciting website), and James Blake.

Do what you will with these. Just stay hydrated.

What’s Yr Damage

Following the breakup of their previous psych-gaze band Creepoid, Anna and Patrick Troxell forged an electro post-punk dynamic as the duo Lovelorn. And now the ATX-by-way-of Philly outfit is ramping things up with two new additions to the line-up, guitarists Steve Pike and Kyle Harris. No doubt extra shreds will add even more discordant dimensions […]
